Founded in 1838, and known as the world's leather and glove capital, Fulton County can take a 180 degree turn away from a high cost and high stress way of life toward a relaxing lifestyle representing all that is good about that "small town America" feel. About sixty percent of this region sits within the Adirondack Park and is home to 44 lakes, with the Great Sacandaga being the largest of them measuring in at 29 miles long. Ranging from dairy, fruit, grain crops, livestock and vegetables, this area has about 222 active farms. With GlobalFoundries to the east, SUNY Poly College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering to the south, and Marcy Nanocenter at SUNY Polytechnic Institute to the west, this area is located within what is referred to as New York's "Technology Triangle". The cost of living is lower in comparison than other counties within the Capital Region making this an attractive option for individuals of all ages, abilities and incomes.
