The New York State Capitol building in Albany was finished in 1899 after more than 30 years of construction. It’s where the New York State Legislature and the Governor of New York have their offices. Dedication of various architects who worked on the design over many years, resulted in a beautiful finished product combining Romanesque Revival and Neo-Renaissance architectural styles.

One of the most famous parts of the Capitol is the "Million Dollar Staircase." This grand staircase is adorned with intricate carvings of important historical figures and decorations, making it a major highlight of the building. Inside, the Assembly Chamber is stunningly detailed and grand design, where legislative sessions take place. The Senate Chamber is equally impressive, with beautiful craftsmanship that adds to the overall elegance of the Capitol.

The MVP Arena is a large multi-functional complex that currently serves as the home to the Albany FireWolves, a professional box lacrosse team in the National Lacrosse League and to the Siena Saints Division 1 Men's Basketball team. They also frequently host top-tier NCAA events.

The Empire State Plaza offers a bunch of fun activities throughout the year. In spring, the popular Tulip Festival is held annually in Washington Park. During the summer months, farmers markets provide fresh, local produce and artisanal goods. Additionally, several outdoor concerts offering a wide range of music genres are held on the main Plaza. Notable performers have included Smash Mouth, Earth, Wind & Fire, Salt-N-Pepa, Boz Scaggs, Fitz and the Tantrums, and more.

The 4th of July Celebration at the Plaza is considered the biggest and best in upstate New York, recognized for its spectacular fireworks display. The Independence Day festivities feature live music, food and retail vendors, a military flyover, and attractions for children.

Year-round, The New York State Museum offers many different types of exhibits and programs all age groups.  Its educational programs include workshops, lectures, guided tours, and hands-on activities for children and adults. The Convention Center accommodates a wide range of venues including conventions, conferences, art exhibitions, film screenings, wellness fairs, political events, trade shows.



As winter sets in, the Plaza transforms into an outdoor ice-skating rink, attracting families and skating hobbyists. The ice rink is open to the public and offers learn-to-skate clinics, sponsored by several vendors. Local school students spread holiday cheer by performing music, including popular holiday classics.

Built in 1931 and located in the heart of Albany, this beautifully restored theatre features stunning architecture and seats over 2,800 guests. Audiences can enjoy a variety of entertainment options, including concerts, stand-up comedy, classical performances, films, and Broadway shows. Popular nearby restaurants, such as 677 Prime, Yono’s, and The Hollow Bar + Kitchen, are within walking distance.

With the excitement of golf season which runs from early spring to late fall, there are no shortages of golf courses in this area. Regardless of your experience, private (i.e. Colonie Golf & Country Club and Schuyler Meadows) and public golf courses (i.e. Capital Hills) host tournaments, leagues, charity events, junior programs, annual classics, social settings, and more!

Located near Voorheesville and spanning over 2,100 acres on the Helderberg Cliffs, John Boyd Thacher State Park provides marvelous views of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondacks, as well as the Green Mountains of Vermont. A standout feature is its  fossil-rich limestone caves and rock formations, which date back millions of years.

There are breathtaking views waterfalls that can be seen with over 25 miles of hiking trails.
